AU Perspectives - August 2025

AU Perspectives is Hillel’s campus leaders trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories.  This highly subsidized experience provides undergraduate student leaders from a wide range of backgrounds with a unique opportunity to explore the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in all its complexity.

AU Perspectives is a selective program geared toward students who are motivated to gain a deeper understanding of the region and to share what they learn with the broader AU community.  Throughout the experience, participants will be expected to ask challenging questions, engage in group discussions, and practice resilient listening.

Participants on AU Perspectives will form a learning community, coming together for pre-trip orientations prior to the trip and post-trip experiences during the spring semester.

On AU Perspectives, you will:

  • Explore cities including Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Ramallah, and Bethlehem (security situation permitting) to learn about the lives of different Palestinians and Israelis

  • Visit sites sacred to Muslims, Christians, and Jews

  • Meet journalists, politicians, activists and others, hearing a wide range of Israeli and Palestinian voices

  • Experience cultures of the Middle East and build community with a diverse group of AU students

When is the trip?

AU Perspectives is scheduled for August 3 - 13, 2025.  The group will depart from, and return to, Dulles airport.

Who is eligible?

The trip is open to undergraduate students who will graduate no sooner than May 2026 and will be on campus during the fall 2025 semester.  Successful applicants will have demonstrated significant leadership on campus, as well as intellectual curiosity and strong interpersonal skills.

How much does it cost?

AU Perspectives is a very highly subsidized experience.  If you are selected to participate, you will be required to make a $250 non-refundable deposit to secure your spot.  The program includes flights to/from Israel, hotels, program activities, and two meals a day.  Beyond the deposit, participants will be responsible for getting themselves to/from Dulles airport, for one meal a day during the trip, and for any personal shopping, snacks, etc.

How do I apply?

Interested students should apply here.  The priority deadline is March 18.  Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, so it is to your advantage to apply sooner rather than later!  Those selected to move forward in the process will be contacted to schedule an interview.
